The Painting Project is a painting studio and classroom dedicated to the teaching of oil painting in Boulder, Colorado. Our focus is on a mixture of classical and modern traditions of drawing and oil painting. It is committed to the enduring power of painting as a depth human activity which affords an indispensable exploration of ways of being. Studying at The Painting Project studio and classroom is an opportunity to become familiar with and immersed in the rich and vital world of oil painting.
In addition the studio work, artists meet each other in a community of fruitful exchange of technique, ideas and friendship. The studio is also the artistic home of the main instructor, Jordan Wolfson. The space is charged with his own personal painting and work. While pursuing their own development, participants are exposed to the ongoing artistic development of a highly skilled, professional artist, committed to artistic exploration, risk and experimentation. All contribute together, creating an atmosphere of genuine engagement and supportive creative pursuit.
The instructor, Jordan Wolfson, has been teaching painting and drawing for over twenty years. Originally from Los Angeles, Jordan is a contemporary artist who has exhibited extensively, both nationally and internationally. Jordan received his MFA from Yale University and is the recipient of numerous awards including the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, the Ingram Merrill Foundation Grant and a purchase award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
